What is embryo adoption?
Embryo adoption is a technique that consists of gestating embryos that other couples have donated once they have achieved their pregnancy.
Intracytoplasmic injection of morphologically selected spermatozoa (IMSI) is a novel technique that allows selecting the best spermatozoa according to morphology.
To carry out this technique, better known as IMSI, we have a state-of-the-art microscope from Leica Microsystems with up to 16,000 magnification resolution. This allows us to see and detect abnormalities in the sperm and thus select those that are totally normal.
This technique is much more precise than ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection), since, in addition to the shape of the head and tail of the sperm that we see at 400 magnification, we can see if there are vacuoles inside the sperm nucleus, correlated with DNA abnormalities.
This makes it possible to increase the viability of the selected embryos, and, with it, their gestation, reducing the abortion rate by half compared to not making said sperm selection.
