How is the intrauterine artificial insemination performed in order to get the highest chance of pregnancy?
- In the accurate cycle: the ovulation is slightly stimulated in such a way that avoids risks and enhances its effectiveness, and so it prevents multiple pregnancies.
- In the exact moment: you will be inseminated few hours before ovulation.
- In the right place: sperm is deposited through the cervix, a natural barrier for them, and so they are nearer to their final destination.
- With high-quality sperm: before the insemination, the laboratory separates motile spermatozoa from the other sperm elements, as those without motility, seminal plasma, and other cells.
Types of intrauterine artificial insemination:
- Artificial insemination by husband (AIH), using sperm of your partner or husband.
- Artificial insemination by donor (AID), using frozen tested sperm from an anonymous donor.
Effectiveness of intrauterine artificial insemination technique:
The pregnancy rate per cycle in a woman who is inseminated with her partner's sperm is between 15% and 20%, and when using donor sperm, the rate is between 25 % and 35%. In Cefer Institute we perform 3 cycles at most. If pregnancy is not achieved, we recommend undergoing an in vitro fertilisation, which has a 50% rate of success.
Avoid risks for your baby
Recent scientific studies have shown that the risk of genetic disorder is higher than previously thought, even when there are not prior cases in the family history.
The new genetic tests have transformed the assisted reproduction field. They make possible now to research on many diseases at the same cost that we have been paying before for just studying one.
With a single DNA test from a blood sample, the Cefer Reproductive Institute reduces the risk of having a child afflicted with one of the 250 genetic disorders.
The advantages of the genetic tests (Recombine, Genetic or Compatibility) are:
They give us more information than current diagnostic tests. For example, the traditional test on cystic fibrosis (value at 330€) studies 34 possible genetic mutations, but thanks to Compatibility 250* test, we can study 140 gene mutations (+400%).
Therefore, we can research on many diseases at the same cost of a small number of former investigations. With a genetic test, the cost of disease research does not exceed 4€.
Among the studied diseases, there are some high impact ones, as cystic fibrosis, fragile X syndrome, spinal muscular atrophy, sickle-cell disease, alpha and beta thalassemia and Tay-Sachs disease.
Cefer Reproductive Institute will continue to add new methods and techniques with the aim of helping our patients in a better way. Our major advances are for you and for your healthy family.
