Contact us:
If you want to help other families by giving your eggs, then arrange an appointment with one of our gynaecologists two weeks before your next menstruation. You can call at 93 254 60 70 or 93 240 40 60, or send an email to info@institutocefer.com.
Egg donation process:
The donor will receive 1.000€ (950€ in Valencia). The same day of the retrieval we will give you 600€ as compensation for the inconveniences of coming. After the next menstruation, we perform a medical examination in order to verify if everything is okay. Then we will receive 400€ (or 350€ in Valencia). If the cycle had to be stopped due to medical causes, you would receive an economic compensation according to the process phase you were before the interruption.
Does the procedure have any damage to the donor?
As we use the same hormone (FSH) the woman produces in a natural way, you will not gain weight (but occasionally you could retain fluid), or get more body hair or skin rashes. Your fertility will not be affected, because you will still have the same eggs. This treatment matures other follicles that would not become mature in a natural way.
Is there any risk in donating eggs?
Your body can give an exaggerated respond to the treatment. It is called the ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). We can avoid this syndrome by administrating small doses of the treatment and monitoring continually your response.
Further information about the OHSS.
The ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is an electrolyte imbalance. In other words, it happens when your body retains an excess of fluid, which can cause some discomforts as abdominal pain. It can be relieved thanks to an adequate diet and resting five days. In some rare cases it can become a severe condition. Then the patient should not maintain sexual relations of any kind until the next menstruation due to an increased risk in multiple pregnancies.
Birth control pills
You may still need to use them and wait for instructions. In the next menstruation, if you comply with all the requirements, you can start with the injections. There is no problem if you are using an IUD (intrauterine device).
- Once the preliminary tests are done and you have seen our gynaecologist, the egg donation process starts.
- The first day of the menstruation you should call us in order to receive instructions about the administration of birth control pills and hormones. This step lasts from 10 to 12 days, during which you have to come every day to our centre to receive the treatment (even weekend days in the morning) and to undergo 3-4 ultrasound exams and tests. Since the first day you should be available.
- The medical team will set the day of the egg retrieval. You will receive a subcutaneous injection late in the evening (between 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m.).
- Two days later, we perform the egg retrieval in the morning (from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.), without having eaten or drunk anything since the previous night, and without having smoked. You should come with a companion, and without make-up or jewels.
- The egg retrieval is carried out through ovarian follicle fluids aspiration and vaginal ultrasound. It lasts 30 minutes, 10 of which you will be sedated with Propofol (a local anaesthetic). You do not need to be admitted to the clinic. There would not be stitches or visible scars.
- When the process finished, you should rest 24 hours.
