When is it advisable to perform a preimplantation genetic diagnosis?
- In women over 37 years old.
- When there is a clinic history of two or more miscarriages.
- In karyotypically altered couples.
- In men with chromosomal abnormalities in the sperm, detected through FISH test.
- In people with genetic disorders (no chromosomal ones) that can be passed on the descendants.
The preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is a partial test of a sole cell, so we can only provide information about those diseases we study and not about all the embryo.
