Singles
A single woman who wishes to have children may chose to use a Sperm Bank to become pregnant. It is legal in Spain.
If the woman is fertile, artificial insemination is carried out. If she has obstructed fallopian tubes, in vitro fertilisation (IVF) is carried out with semen from an anonymous donor. If her ovaries do not function, a transfer of embryos from donated eggs and sperm from a sperm bank is carried out. In this case, new embryos can be formed or previously-formed frozen embryos can be used.
The embryos can also come from patients who have gone through a cycle of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and have donated the surplus frozen embryos, as mentioned. See EMBRYO BANK.
